DD is looking at an extended diploma BTEC at college. She's been told it's only three days in college. Does this still class as a full time course? When I went to sixth, I was in all week.

Yes probably, due to the hours they are supposed to put in themselves. When DD did hers she had 15 hours in college and was expected to do 15 hours at home, either on assignments or on researching and reading around the subject.

A level students have free periods. Especially if they are doing 3 and not 4 in the first year. They might be required to be in school but they are not taught every hour they are there. Self study is required.

My son's friend is doing a level 3 BTEC and only goes in 3 days a week. He does a day of work experience and a day of independent study to complete assignments. My son, who is doing 3 A levels, has the same contact time, but spread across 5 days with lots of free periods.
