Online qualifications

I want to study psychology, I would need to do this online as I work full time Mon - Fri. My concern is that employers do not take online qualifications as seriously or they don’t hold as much weight as qualifications achieved by go to a physical college or university. Whilst I don’t think I want to go into this line of work is it worth paying for if the actual qualification means nothing?

Open University courses are very well respected and often taken by people who work full-time and fit in their studies around this - www.open.ac.uk/courses/atoz

My dd1 graduated from the University of Derby this summer having studied for a BSc Psychology online with them, it is a fully BPS credited Degree and can be done full or part time. She is now on maternity leave with her 2nd child& starting a MSc Health Psychology with the University of Ulster, again distanced learning. If I remember correctly with Derby you can start at any point in the year, September, January or April.

There are still some dodgy online providers but more and more excellent universities are providing online distance learning degrees. OU is always well respected and for psychology Derby, Nottingham and lots of other great places do online BSc and MSc psychology degrees. If you are serious about psychology go to the BPS website and search for their accredited courses. Good luck!

If you're in London I highly recommend Birkbeck...or Open University as a PP mentions. Both very well regarded.
