Ohhhh.... I'd also like to know about this as I was also considering applying.

Any info? I'd like to apply as well

I have been looking at the exact same thing as I already have a degree. I spoke to student finance and my particular circumstances mean I would get a loan for the course for and the maintenance grant as well as 85% childcare costs covered . You are best ringing student finance and then speaking with the uni you are looking at to discuss bursaries etc.

I spoke to the university regarding applying for the midwifery degree.

You need some healthcare experience, there is no set amount you need just enough for a reference. You also need to have studied within the last 5 years, you can do any course - it doesn't have to be healthcare related.

Didn't ask about funding as I'm not looking to apply for another 2 years.

OP - just out of interest how old are your children? I was considering doing this and was thinking about waiting till kids are at school but interested to see what others are doing

Hi OP! Am thinking about doing the access course next September then applying for the degree to start in 2020. However there's an option at my local college to do an 'intense' access course starting January 2019, I'm not sure yet though!

My youngest starts school in September which is giving me a new focus on my/our future & my career.

I'm 37 & watching this thread with interest!

Are you intending on doing an access course?

MissHemsworth · 17/08/2018 17:23

Interesting about the student finance @lrfearnley I need to speak to them. I've got a previous degree. Am scared they will laugh/say no!!!

Have you heard the stuff about apprenticeships coming in which may then mean the funding etc doesn't apply?

MissHemsworth · 17/08/2018 19:31

@NML2286 no not heard about apprenticeships. Does that means fees won't apply or will fees be paid using the apprenticeship?

midwifediaries.com/a-new-way-to-train-as-a-student-midwife-in-the-uk/

This is all I've read but it does say that you wouldn't be paying fees and instead training on job
