Hi , my daughter is 15 , in S4. She is suffering with severe anxiety and has opted for a Nat 4 - level 5 college - level 6 college - HNC route. I support this. But I’m curious to know how applications work. She is a September baby so I believe she can leave in June ? But how does she apply for a college course requiring Nat 4s if she is still achieving them ? How do conditional offers work ? Is it a guaranteed place ? Sorry if this is the wrong board will

A couple of my DC2s friends went to college at the end of S4. Both were already doing an afternoon at college in S4 and I think they just registered interest in the course after their S4 prelims and then had interviews. I don't think their places were conditional as the course was at nat5 level and it was clear by then that they'd have enough Nat 4/5 passes ( so the interview must have been April/May). My DCs school helps out with college applications. Is that an option for your DD?

You are right you can leave at the end of S4 perhaps even once you've done your exams even if you are not 16 until the September.
