HLTA standard 11

I am being asked to do the above at school. I have a degree as a mature student plus nvq 2 and 3. I do not have certificates of maths and english and would need to hunt them down. I understand I can take HLTA tests at a cost. Does anyone know what these are like as they aren't equivilency tests so won't count as a GCSE.
