I currently work at school helping with lunchtimes while until my youngest starts school full time in September. I would really like to become a teaching assistant. Any advice on where to start, what courses I need to do etc. Thanks

You would need a level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning in School or similar. Experience as a lunchtime supervisor is a good start but even better volunteer in a classroom setting or preschool. FE colleges would offer it , although you may be too late to enrol this year. However you may find community based courses which start at other times of the year. If you are on certain income related benefits you may qualify for a concession on fees.

Is your thread title a misprint-do you mean teacher training? Or do you want to be a TA? The courses are quite different.
