How much does AS grade contribute to A2 grades?

Does anyone know how much percentage of your final A2 grade is from the previous AS grade? And how is it calculated? - just a fixed figure or is it weighted towards each unit taken?

Or where can we get this information?

Is it realistic (if the study is put in!) to think you could go up a grade in atleast 1 of your subjects at A2 when you've dropped one of your subjects. DS has reduced from 4 to 3 for September.

Thanks

The AS grade is half the overall, assuming A2 is taken next year.

All units are equally weighted AFAIK.

It's 50:50.

What subject does he want to go up a grade in? In maths this is possible, but unlikely. Students usually stay on the same grade or go down, as A2 is much harder than AS. If he wants to go up a grade he will probably have to resit some element of the AS.

Ideally go up in Maths (B to an A) and chemistry (A to an A*)

Not impossible at all, but shed loads of hard work needed, some resits, and maybe a private tutor if possible. DS1 got BCC at AS and did all of the above, and got them up to AAA in sciences and maths.
