I posted a few weeks ago about discovering that my nephew (15) has been in foster care for 18 months.

My BIL had lost contact with his children about 7 years ago, ( a back story of his ex making contact very difficult and my BIL 'giving up' altho' in BIL's defence no alcohol, violence or drug problems, and has always been in full time work)

But BIL is meeting SW next week and I would like to know the sort of scenarios that lead to a young teen being placed in care,as I would like to prepare BIL for this meeting.

Sorry I know that this is such an open ended question, but even stereotypes would help.
