Matching panel

Hi there ,At last it looks like we are to have our 1st placement (we were approved in march).
We are long term /permanent cares so have to go to matching panel .
Has anyone been through this and can give us any idea what to expect ,will it be like going to panel all over again ,what do they ask ? .
Any advice will be appreciated.

Nice to see your name-just wanted to say hi as I have no experience of a matching panel I'm afraid!!

We are currently caring for a 4 week old baby for an indefinite period of time-totally rewarding but I am sooooooo knackered!!..

Hi Minnerva ,
I hope everythings going okay with the baby .
As for us ,well things are moving veeerry slowly.
We have accepted a little girl aged 9 having read her reports and pen picture from current foster carers .We are meeting the childs social worker later this month for more info .
Then apparently we have to go to matching panel !,well nerves are starting all over again .
If all goes well she should be with us at the beginning of Aug as she is from another part of England and is finishing her school year at her present school .The wheels are certainly turning slowly .but we are quite positive still anyway .
I was hoping someone had some info what happens at matching panel ,I think no other Carers are being considered for the child .

Well me and hubby went to matching panel this week and can honestly say all the worrying and anguish was totally justified !.
Only joking but it was difficult and very intense due to the complexities of the family situation of the child .
Anyway we were recommended and are now picking up the little girl next week to come and live with us permanently.So all this waiting will be worth it .
We cant wait , and will spend this weekend rushing around and preparing for her arrival.... yippee.
