Offer to help - talks in schools

Hello! I'm an adoptive Mum and I started to write children's books about adoption, foster care and kinship care a couple of years ago, to help explain these sensitive topics to my children and others.

I am on a mission to raise awareness of these kinds of families, so that no child feels like their family is strange, and to hopefully improve understanding among children, to reduce bullying and upsetting questions such as "why didn't your parents want you?" "Why were you given up?" etc which children often ask innocently, but as any adoptive parent will know, that can be hugely triggering for a child.

So I'm trying to visit as many schools as possible, either in person or virtually, to read one of my books, "Room in the Nest," which depicts adoptive, kinship, foster families, same-sex parents and a single-parent family. The talks are tailored to the age group.

Sounds brilliant.

What age range are you tackling?

Hello! I've spoken to school groups aged 4-11 so far, but can also tailor it to older groups!
