A situation has been brought to my attention involving one of my daughters friends, they are both 17. The friend is quiet and polite and has an unpleasant home life. Not physically but emotionally abusive and she has now been told to find somewhere else to live. There is only one parent in her life and no relatives that she can contact.

I have offered her a home for as long as she needs it, 2 days, 2 weeks, 2 years. She plans on accessing student support services on Monday.

Meeting her physical needs is not an issue from a monetary point of view but are there any legalities that we need to look into (Scotland) so far my reading has said as she is over 16 the local authorities don't necessarily get involved

Any web sites that you would recommend for further research would be appreciated, thank you.

Firstly, you are an amazing person to take her in.
I'd suggest you give your local social services/safeguarding team a call for advice.
