How long did the process take?

I'm at the very beginning of applying to become a foster carer, researching agencies and gathering lots of info!

I wondered, once you approached your LA or private agency, how long the process to approval took? I know I may well be asking how long a piece of string is here, but I wondered if there was a general timescale?

Thank you so much.

At my IFA I’d say the average from you making contact to panel is about 6 months. Can be quicker or slower depending on various factors.
How available you are for sessions.
How available your assessor is.
When pre-assessment training is.
How long checks take to come back.
How many people in your household to be assessed / interviewed.
How complicated your narratives are.
How frequently panel is held at the agency.
And many other things too…
