Extra room

Me and my partner were approved as foster carers early March and we have a teen with us now.

However we've just had another room become available in our home as we didn't have use of it before as one of my adult daughter's was using it for a lot of her belongings that couldn't fit in her new home and we are now considering opening it up for another child.

We have our ssw coming out tomorrow for our monthly visit so will be talking to her anyway but I'm just wondering if anyone knows what the process is? I'm aware it does involve going back to panel but just wondering if it's as big a deal as the initial assessment.

Hi,
It will go back to panel but absolutely nothing like the initial process 😊 if your SW is happy for you to take on a second placement it should all be passed and ratified by the ADM quite quickly.

Good luck

We were in the same situation.
We were asked to provide respite for another child who lived close to us so it went back to panel and was approved.
Ask your Sw to recommend all options so you are covered for all eventualities and ages.
