Has anyone wanted to foster but haven’t been able to due to their partner’s unsuitability? I just wondered whether there is anyone out there as the support given may help me to “put the idea to bed”. We did foster for ten years but my husband had to attend some counselling to help with his anger issues and we subsequently resigned. There had been a minor incident which meant that we would need to be taken to Panel again. Three years on and I’m still wondering whether we made the right decision as it was a career that I loved and I was very proud of my profession. My husband and two children also wanted to continue with fostering but, three years ago, I was worried about Panel turning us down.
I would love to hear from someone who has applied to foster, or who is interested, but have reservations about their partner’s suitability.
