So this isn’t strictly fostering although I think for younger children it might be classed as fostering. I’m looking at becoming a host family for teenagers who need a secure environment while they are studying away from home. As part of the application I need to do a statement illustrating why we would make a suitable host family. My main argument is that we are a very traditional/boring family with two children who do the whole roast dinners on Sunday, Having a meal together, strict on homework et cetera so we could provide a safe and secure environment for someone who may be away from home for the first time. But how do I word that in an application? And is there a better way of saying that or anything else I should add? Thanks for your help

Hiya.
I would add in something about being inclusive, flexible and being able to provide a range of experiences for the child.
I would avoid using words like strict and go for something like “supportive with homework” instead.
Perhaps something about how you’re keen to share your culture and also learn about, support and integrate the child’s culture too.

Most host families I’ve known have enjoyed for example learning about the child’s national cuisine and cooking dishes with them. Then teaching them some of our cooking etc.

They’re keen on kids being taken out to see new places at weekends etc. To local landmarks or attractions. Perhaps add in if you have membership to any interesting or fun places.
