Quick question about spare bedroom

Hi,

We finally have the money to create a spare bedroom for we can apply to become foster caters.

Would it be best to wait until the room is complete before we start the process or can I begin applying now (thinking it may be weeks/months before we have completed paperwork/courses)?

Thanks 😊

you could start now, the process takes around 6 months so you have this time to prepare and they arefine with it being unfurnished

Thanks @mike67547476 that's really helpful. That givens me time to get the work done to create the new room and wrap up my job, if I'm successful.

You can absolutely contact the agency or LA now, although they will generally want to look at the room which will be used for fostering as part of their initial visit, so it may be that you'll need to put your application on hold until they room is complete. This could be a great time to get some more information though and decide which agency or LA is best for you!

I would definitely start the process now as my own application took 9 months from first call to getting a child. Exciting times, good luck
