Introductions (adoption) during lockdown

Is anyone transitioning a little one to adoption during these times? Our little one's adopters passed panel this week and the plan is to transition to adoption asap, I am dreading it. This is our first placement and our first adoption and I know it's going to be hard but would appreciate some guidance from more experienced foster carers as to what to expect.

I'm an adopter so have only done this once from the other side, but our FC were very experienced and FAB.

Things our FC did that helped:

  • referred to us as Mummy & Daddy from the off
  • got older DC to sit with us on the sofa at first meeting to look at our intro book with her
  • explicitly gave us run of her kitchen
  • showed me once, let me do it once under supervision, then backed off unless I asked for help (eg nappy changing, bathing etc)
  • went out so we could do bedtime without them being around
  • gave us a key(!) so if we went out with DC we could definitely get in again (this was above and beyond the call of duty)
  • gave us stuff to move on every visit after the first one, so when they came to ours some of their stuff was there & on the last day there was only a small bag
  • quick collection only on final day & held back the tears until after we had driven off

hth.

Oh, gave us a 'starter kit' for nappy changes.

I have done this (but not in lockdown), what is different about it being in lockdown, if that's not a silly question? Presumably the adopters will still be coming to your house every day for around a week?
