Hi all, just after some advice of the financial aspect of fostering with local authority. It will actually be my grandson ill be fostering on temporay basis to start with long-term being a major possibility.
Without going too much into hes only 8wks and being taken from his mum and dads care currently in hospital recovering from severe head injury been there 3wks but is on the road home.
Now im willing to stop work to take him on but this is all foreign to me, i have absolutely no idea of financial aspect of it. I have a partner who works full time but our household will take a knock with me not working. Id appreciate any advice or pointers please.
Tia a clueless Nannie 🙂

If I Google my council (we are in NI) and fostering they show how much foster carers are paid per week.. it's roughly £130-160 depending on age (more if they're older).

Have you tried looking online? You could also give your local authority a ring and I'm sure they could give you a very good idea.

In my LA this would be Kinship care and not fostering. The money is not as much but there is not as much of an in depth assessment done. Have they actually suggested you will be fostering the baby?
