Hi
Ive come to a bit of a crossroad in my life, I'm hoping someone has some advice.
I am 24, single and just moved back home to save for a house.
I work in a residential home for SEN, i love it but really want to start making more of career. Ive always been really interested in fostering, its always seemed like my calling (excuse the cheeseGrin)
I have so many questions but i suppose my main ones are:
Would i be considered as a single person.
Would there be limits based on my age?
Would my income cover a mortgage etc.?
Should i look at properties that would be suitable for foster children or should i wait?
Thanks in advance, any advise would be really appreciated x

My knowis a few years old so might br slightly out of date but hopefully helpful...

Best bet is to contact your local authority and ask them. May is fostering fortnight so many places should be holding information sessions and or promoting fostering.

Being single is def not a barrier and as I remember its ppl over 21 who can be carers. Work needs to be flexible, time off for meetings etc n illness, school exclusion etc etc. Under school age of course your need to be at home.

Child needs own room unless under 2 years old then they can share foster carers room.

Finances, generally you only get income wen you have child placed with you, so you have to be aware it's not a guaranteef income.

Hope that answers some questions!

Good luck!
