Hello šŸ‘‹šŸ»
I have my home visit next week I’m feaking out about it be honest this is something me and my husband have been wanting to do for years and years and now we own our home and are sorted financially just on his wage and our children are all older it’s the perfect time and we really really want to do it but I am just so worried they are going to turn us down we have been waiting for so long to be in a position that we can foster I don’t know what we will do if they turn us down if anyone can give me some info on the home visit and what kind of questions they ask also my youngest child is 8 now so my house is not set up for baby’s and toddlers (the age I am going to applying to foster) is this something that they will be considering when they come round? Because I will obviously have it set up for little ones if we get approved and also has anyone not been approved?? If so what were the reasons?? And are you able to re apply? Any advice very very welcome xxxx

Hi Jemma, no need to freak out. They will just take a look round the home, they will check in every room and make a list of things you would need to put in place or change. I’ll give you some examples from our home visit.. We have locks on our bathroom and toilet doors and we were told to change these to privacy locks so we could still gain access from the outside if needed. We didn’t have a carbon monoxide detector so we had to get one of those, also we was told to get a fire blanket and a first aid kit. It’s nothing to worry about. You wouldn’t need to babyproof the house until you have a placement. Do you have any pets? we don’t have any pets and he seemed to be quite relieved about that, I think it has something to do with allergies and dogs of certain breeds ect. Good luck to you and you’re husband, lovely thing to be doing xx
