Fostering initial assessment

Good morning,
We have just had an initial assessment for fostering. the SW mentioned to us that they do not advocate rough and tumble games or tickling games for the foster child. We completely understand the reasons for it. However we have 2 DS 6 and 4yrs who love playing these kind of games and would like advice on how this works from people who have their own children and chose to foster. For us these games are common place and fun so if our boys want to play a tickling game with us how do we manage this with the Foster child around?

Hi love, my son is 10 and we are lucky we have never done play fighting or tickling games, my grandson however does and when he stays over he’s told our house is a strictly no play fighting House( it could be a trigger for a foster child and is often how an abuser instigates contact with a child), to start with he ignored us but slowly it sunk in and it’s part of our house rules. I would slowly phase it out totally if you are serious about fostering xx

Hiya, Thanks for you reply Ameliarose123. Yeah I can fully appreciate the rationale for not doing it with FC around. I guess at the minute being at the start of the process we are looking at our own family needs against those of the FC and working through how it will all fit together
