Hi all,
We are considering moving to another council to work as foster carers for them (10 yrs fostering experience), has anyone had any experience of this? How did it work out for you? Has anyone had experience of doing this whilst having children in placement? Any help/advice will be gratefully considered, thanks!

We are foster carers with an IFA. A couple in our group recently moved to LA. They had to go to fostering panel again and this took about 8 months, but they got to keep their 2 existing placements and these transferred with them. I would imagine it works in exactly the same way. I'd tell your SSW that you're thinking of moving and explain why, so things run smoother if you do decide to move, and they may even be able to work through why you feel a need to move and resolve it.

Hi Hello2503

Did you get anywhere with this? My parents want to move LA's to be closer to me for support but don't want to lose their placement. I don't know if it works like that or the child has to stay with the same LA forever?
