Specifying age when fostering

Hi. I have a little boy (currently under 1) and would love to foster in a few years time. Obviously my main concern is my little boy so I was wondering if I could specify that I wish to only care for children younger than my child. E.g. under 1 or 2yrs. Is this possible with local authority or does the age request have to be broader e.g 0-4?

Many thanks

It's quite normal in adoption to keep kids in age order as you describe so I'd imagine that would be considered wise in fostering too.

Hi yes it is and if you want under 2s or even under 5 I'd suggest local authority x private foster agencies will tell you that they get younger children but younger children mainly go to la.

Sometimes though age is only a number as we can foster children ages for instance 10 with a mental age of 5 years .
