We have only recently started to look into fostering children and now awaiting the first visit from local authority care worker. In the meantime there are a multitude of questions we need to ask so please have patience with me if I bombard this site with threads.
I am Thai and have been in the UK for 5 years, now a British citizen. I know that, to be a foster carer I need to have CRB checks carried out. No problem since I have been a care worker for the aged and infirm for 4 years anyway. However, for fostering children will they require a CRB check from Thailand and, if so, how would the go about it?

I worked abroad for many years and during the assessment process I had to provide the LA with all my previous addresses and all my previous employers. They then wrote to all past employers stating I was applying to become a foster carer and did they have any comments to make. They also did what I think they referred to as local authority checks, where they contacted the authorities in each city/country I'd worked..so not a police check as such, but still pretty thorough.
