General ranting thread

Is there one?
Is there a need for one?
For those moments when you need a small rant that doesn't need a full thread of it's own, but you do need a space to vent a little.
Not a 'social services are awful', or ' my placement is dreadful' place, but a 'oh ffs, today is tough' space.

To introduce myself, I'm a supported lodgings provider rather than a foster carer, but my new placement ( a month now) is just 16 so I'm much more of a foster parent than lodgings provider.
She has an ehcp, probable attachment disorder, and hasn't been in mainstream schooling - none of which were disclosed before she moved in. And today she has shocking PMT - I really feel for her, but oh lord, I could quite happily sink a large quantity of vodka. Instead I shall go for the 'fixed smile and nod' technique.
If I'd had more information earlier, I would have dealt with things very differently at the beginning of the placement, so my small rant is about the lack of information from SS. And that I'd forgotten how bad PMT can be with teens as it's 10 years since my youngest daughter was 16 :(

I think a rant thread is a marvellous idea. Having spent the afternoon at the police station following increasingly violent outbursts from our 11 yr old fc I either rant or get hammered!!

That sounds like a really tough day - I hope today was better. I can't wait for the end of the holiday so we can get back to a normal routine - I think that my young person has been quite unsettled by Christmas and New Year, having moved from residential care to a home environment (with a birthday, extended Christmas staying with my parents, and today a 50th wedding anniversary party). She's really dealt with it all amazingly well, but it is hard work. I'm now on the Prosecco as she's asleep on the sofa :)

Having had a long line of teen girls before current placement it sounds like yours is coping well - or still in honeymoon!?
Ours is an interesting (!?) placement bless him. We are fighting social care for psychological input he urgently needs. The art therapy offered isn't gonna touch the sides! And we are last chance saloon as if it breaks down here he'll be in institutional care - and prob won't come out. He's a violent little bugger when he goes - but totally loveable- if only he'd let us
