Adopting foster child

Hi
Has anyone on here adopted their foster child? We are considering (5 years old FC) and child's SW is supporting of this, but we would like to know how long you had to stop fostering once adoption went through? What were the financial implications? Foster ing is currently my only income although OH works full time. We are with our LA.

I did. I negotiated 12 months off from fostering, but a friend only wanted 6 months off when she adopted her FC. I would think the LA would expect you to have 3-6 months off depending on the needs of the child. I have heard of carers having up to 2 years off. Your LA can pay your Banding and the child's allowance (less any benefits that you may get eg family allowance), but it will be means tested.
