Hi all.
We are foster carers and are recently welcoming a new placement. One of the children will be entitled to disability allowance.
We don't claim any benifits and my other half works full time
My question is will we claim for carers allowance (suggested by social worker)
Do any other carers claim benifits either when a child is in placement (tax credits/housing benifits) or whenot there is no child in (jsa)
Do we class the fostering as an income or only other half's wages.
Any help or advice greatly received.

Many thanks.

Not sure about JSA
You can claim working tax credit and child tax credit for your own children. Depending on how many children you foster( if it's only 1)
Your income will be 0.
Carers allowance is a taxable benefit so must be declared to tax credits. It pays your to NI contributions.
Child's disability allowance is for child so keep records of what you spend it on as some SW ask.
