Hi, so I unfortunately have a friend who's children are now possibly going under a child protection order Shock
My worries are that;
A) if social services became aware that we are friends, does this impact negatively on their opinion of me?
B) are they going to wonder why I haven't reported her myself (I actually have done so anonymously several times)
My other concern is that they are currently making the decision as to whether they will be issuing the cpo and I feel like I have more information than they do about how she is as a parent that may make their decision easier but of course that will mean the end of my friendship with her and again,are they going to wonder why I never gave them this information before now? X

Are you a foster carer or hoping to be one?
There is no such thing as a child protection order, it's a plan. Orders are granted by the court.
If you have information that they do not have you must share it. Being friend won't affect your ability to foster per se but obviously child protection is everyone's responsibility and you are a professional which lends certain expectations.
I recently shared information about someone I know personally (am a SW) and foolishly didn't remain anonymous. It caused me a lot of worry and hassle with the person in my life who was the source of the info but it was the right thing to do.

I'm a fc. Ah I see, that makes more sense. I know I have a duty to share the information but it's so hard knowing I'll lose a friend over it

I think you need to discuss it with your SSW.
