I've been fostering 2 little boys for about 10 months now. In the early days there were some major tantrums and some bad behaviour, but this settled down quite quickly.
They were told by sw in Feb that they would be moving onto a long term placement. Nothing has moved on with that since. So for a couple of months they have known they're not staying with me and it has really thrown them behaviour wise.
The youngest (6) is now constantly in trouble at school for hurting others, not listening or not doing his work. The older one (7) is better at school, though doesn't do much work, but on Monday night I got a phone call from a local club he attends asking me to collect him early as he'd literally been running around the place, kicking equipment, and refused to listen to 5 different adults. When I went to collect him he had a screaming shouting tantrum and I ended up carrying him out of the building.
I can only think that the situation is unsettling them both, but I don't know how to help them with that. For their own good I hope they move on soon so that they can settle somewhere, as when they thought they were staying with us they really settled well. I never told them they were staying but I think after the first few weeks they just assumed.
Has anyone else dealt with this kind of situation before and can offer any tips?
