Work reference..

I'm going through the process of becoming a foster carer.
The social worker has been to see my 3 references (1 family member and 2 who I've known for more than 5 years).
They mentioned that they will need a reference off my boss. Does anyone know if they will go and visit him or if it will just be a written reference?
Thanks

Mine was a written reference, in the form of quite a few detailed questions!

Mine was a phone call x

Ours was a written reference with about eight questions on it. Asking things about length of time I had worked there, my reliability etc.
My boss even let me read it afterwards Grin

Hi,

We would not normally go and visit work referees. We may verify with a phone call to ensure that it is genuine (as per NMS) and ask if they had anything else to add.
