Hi all, I'm a lurker who's often followed the fostering and adoption boards on MN with interest - I noticed a few comments that you don't tend to get many people who have been fostered on here. So I thought I would speak up, I was fostered from the age of 13 until shortly after my 18th birthday before being placed in a supported lodgings scheme and now live independently. Had some good carers and experiences (and some not so good ones ;) ) over the years but just wondered if their were many other care leavers about on here?

On a different note I quite often get asked if I could change anything about my experiences in care what would it be.. so in some ways I felt that being in care and with the deadline of independence looming at 18 that I had to grow up too quickly. Other than that I mostly enjoyed my early years in care.. the later ones not so much (one set of carers mostly behind that Sad ) but on the positive - I've come out the other side a confident and stronger person than I might have otherwise been for it Halloween Smile

Hi. I was fostered from 2 years old to 16 with the same foster parents most, of the time (went into care homes 3 times in my teens ) Im now 46 and still angry sometimes in how i was treated and how my sw was a total waste of time .

Should add though that have two grown up kids a thriving business and house owned outright as will never go back to feeling not worthy of normal love.
