Hi,

I'm after books relating to attachment disorders, life story work and behaviour management. Can anyone recommend any good ones? We are going to panel in June, so thought we'd do some thorough reading before hand.

Thanks

I always recommend Bruce Perry - The Boy Who Was Raised as a Dog.

Don't spend too much though - once you're approved you should be able to borrow most of what you need from your LA.

Thanks, will look at that.

'Attachment handbook for foster care and adoption' by Gillian Schofield and Mary Beek

"Attachment, trauma and resilience" by Kate Cairns,
"Attachment-focused parenting" by Daniel Hughes,
"Providing a secure base" by Mary Beek and Gillian Schofield,
"Life story therapy with traumatized children" by Richard Rose
Attachment handbook is great!
"Holding on and hanging in" by Lorna Miles
You can borrow from library if you don't want to buy as they're not cheap but it's possible to find deals if you're patient :)

As scarlet mentioned, once you're approved you'll be able to borrow from your LA/IFA and SSW is likely to help you choose what's helpful to read for your placement.

I think knowledge about secure base is most important when starting, after all you're only just starting and don't have to be an expert yet.

Good luck! :)
