Query about fostering......

Hi there,

I'm not talking about straightaway, but the future.

My son was in foster care when he was younger and for 10 months about 2 years ago (came home last February)

I placed him there as I had PND when he was a baby and a breakdown 2 years ago. We have been discharged from SS for some time now.

If I wanted to foster in the future, would my past prevent me from doing do?

Thanks for reading Smile

Not necessarily. The fostering process itself is very thorough, and your medical history will be looked at, the same as any other applicant. Fostering can be very demanding and stressful at times, and they will need to make sure that you could cope with these demands. Don't let the past put you off if you want to apply in the future.

Go for it, it's now that counts, if they think you have what it takes, then if anything your past will be seen as an experience that you can learn from and draw on as you go into fostering yourself. Good luck.
