Can anyone help me with this please only our sw wont commit to an answer.
Our last lo went back to her parents 3 months ago under a supervision order after two years with us.Unfortunately we have heard through the grapevine that things are not going well and she could well be back in care again soon.
We are approved for 3 siblings or 2 children and we have 2 siblings now in our care.
We had always said that should first lo come back into care we would love her to come back to us. What would be the chances of this being allowed to happen now that we are looking after the sibling group. We still have a spare bedroom.

We were passed for 3 siblings or 2. It depends on your SW. We have had 2 siblings and one other at the same time. Having the spare room goes massively in your favour. Hope it works out for you all.

I used to be a social worker (14 years ago now tho) and I would have loved to place the child with you. In your situation, I would email the child's social worker, her manager, your family support worker and her team manager and make sure everyone is aware of your offer. They may need to get your approval changed but surly it would be it the child's best interest to return to you.

I was originally approved for 1 child, 2 if sibs. LA asked me to take a 2nd unrelated child whilst I already had one placement and it was then quite straightforward to change my approval at the next panel - I didn't have to attend and no extra paperwork was done ( at least not by me).

A couple of years after my approval changed I had two unrelated children in place and was asked to take a third! So don't be surprised if you get your approval upped and then more children!!

I believe my LA are now automatically approving all new carers for 3 children 0-18 to prevent situations like this.

Thanks for your replies everyone. BB99 Ive already imformed everyone as you have suggested. if lo does come back in Im feeling a bit more confident now after reading your replies, that she'll be allowed to come back to us.
