Just seen a sw from barnardos and she said my husband and myself were just the right kinda people they are looking for as foster carers. I was so relieved!! After the disappointment with sw from la (they cant consider an application until you have stopped smoking for at least 18 months).
I am on month 4 now of stopping smoking and barnardos said that was fine and they said we had tons of experience with disabilities as i have twin boys with autism and an adult son with autism who lives independently now.
We are just waiting for details and dates of next course starting.
Hoping to be approved eventually for sibling groups and disabilities up to age 13.
I know it is just he start of the journey but I am just so pleased we are actually moving forward at long last. I nearly gave up after la said no to us.
Is anyone else registered with barnardos..any info would be helpful. the sw said it would take around 6 to 8 months to reach panel.
