How long do you wait for placements?

Hi all

I was just wondering on average how long you wait in between placements? We have a child in placement already but are also approved for another 1 or 2 (if sibs.) It's very frustrating having a lovely room ready and empty beds, we are LA carers and I wonder how much this wait varies between authorities. We hear constantly about shortage of carers and yet we've heard nothing in over a month.

I rarely wait between placements, in fact they usually overlap!

I did have a small gap between my first couple of placements but think this is because you are (supposedly) more carefully matched at first to avoid placement breakdowns.

Things will probably get busier for you soon as unfortunately Christmas is typically a peak period for children coming into care :(
