Hi, I am hoping someone can help me.

My husband and I are considering applying to be foster carers. We have always wanted to do so, and what has prevented us has been not having a spare room. We have four children but two will be away from home from September as both are at University, (all but one are grown up)and we are interested in becoming short break carers for children with disabilities as I have worked in special school for many years.

My question is, is it worth us applying when we have a room free for most of the year, but isn't technically 'spare' forever (ie the girls come home in the summer!) We would be available for short breaks for the majority of the year.

Just wondered what the general view is before I go ahead and ask!

I really can't see a problem if it is respite. It is usually all booked in advance and anyway you could say no if it didn't suit. Good luck Smile

Absolutely worth you applying, just give the dates that you are not available.

Good luck from me too xx
