Fostering

Here are some suggested organisations that offer expert advice on fostering.

Do you have a foster carer support group in your area?

Just interested in what other areas do. We have a cake and cuppa meeting, but its quite formal, with a guest speaker and members of the fostering team, and we meet roughly four time a year.

Its something I'd enjoy I think.

No we,ve not got a local support group but wish we had !.
I dont think theres enough social support in our area. A meeting up for coffee and a chat (or rant and moan ) once a month would be good :)

Every fortnight in term time with guest speakers sometimes, if not a guest speaker then a topic for discussion then coffee.

A moan once a month sounds good, but a meet up every two weeks would help keep me sane!

Are you new to fostering Panadbois? If so you might meet some fc's who would like to meet up either in town or at home regularly. It is always good to meet someone who can understand what you are going through to
moan share experiences with Grin

Registered two years, on my second placement bonnie, so still new! This placement is much easier than my first, and I have given up work to do this full time Shock

My SW is keen for us to meet up, as am I. I'm guessing other FC have their support network up and running already.

Every month we have an evening group, daytime group, training/consultation group and a men's group. Also talk of starting a group for carers who foster children with disabilities..............and then all the training on top of that :) xx

I set up my own group as the existing one seemed all about fostering teenagers and their probs which was not really relevant to my newborn lol!!! The local children's centre were happy to host :-) x

Sounds good. Might have to put the feelers out to see the others want. I know that when we do go to training, we spend a lot of time chatting....
