Anybody here who long term fosters? Im just wondering how you get in when you dint have prenatal rights? This fact seems to be a sticking point fir me and dp, so i was just wondering what it is actually like rather than us just assuming, as we not sure we could do it that way.
Thank you.

I have a child in a long term foster placement with us. Give your Local Authority a ring and ask to speak to the family placement or fostering team. Alternatively you can contact a private agency.

Not sure I understand your question about pre natal rights. Do you mean that you're not sure if you are legally able to look after a child if you haven't given birth to them?

Do you specifically want to foster long term for a reason?

Anyway, good on you, my LA don't have enough foster carers...

my la wont let you long term foster until you have been a short term carer first

i think you mean how dose it work looking after a child you have no legal say over.

most likely if the child is long term ss will have pr or at least share it with the bio parents form what i have heard from other long term carers ss pretty much let you get on with it.
you have to take into a count differing sw styles some more meddling than others

i think its at short term level you can be interfered with a lot as most likely things wont have gone to court and sw want to make sure the parents have nothing to be pulled up on in court
