Ready and waiting for our first placement!

Hello

Wow, that was some journey. From deciding to make an application to foster, it has taken 9 months, in that time we have sold our house and bought a bigger one and I have reduced my hours at work, it was a big risk I know but we never do anything half-heartedly and this was no exception. Thankfully, there were no obstacles to hinder us and we were approved nearly 2 weeks ago, we have 2 dd's of our own aged 14 and 11 so our preference ages are 0-8/9. There was a possible placement on the cards but the outcome was the best one for the children (siblings kept together), so we shall bide our time and be ready and waiting!

I just love reading these message boards, you are all a huge inspiration and your vast knowledge and experience are invaluable. I salute you all! xx

Good luck!! We are a week into our 2nd placement.. the first lasting 16 months... even though we only had to wait a week or so inbetween placements (not incl our hol) I found it very exciting and was nervous all over again..

Congrats on your approval and hope you get the right placement soon enough.. you will... patience is a virtue in this 'job'!!

That's fab. We were approved in July and have only just been matched with a child. Still not al 100% confirmed so could still not go ahead but looking very positive. This will be a permanent placements for us. Good luck and let us know how you get on. xxx

Thank you all for your messages of support, I'm sure this place will soon become one of my regular haunts. The excitement is building, we're off out shopping for bedroom furniture tomorrow, can't wait! xx
