Advice on guardians visit today please.

Just wondered if anyone could offer some advice as to what we should expect from a guardian visit?

LO is 5, been with us 6months and this is the first visit we've had.

We never had a visit from our children's guardian... just a 2 minute chat over the phone before she wrote her "in depth" report for court!!!

Sorry.. that's no help at all.. I guess she'll want to know how the LO is, how they are pre/post contact etc..

When ours was appointed, I was warned (by SS) to be careful of what I said, in that anything I said could (and probably would) be used in court and attributed to me infront of the parents... so to give factual advice only, not personal opinions...

Hope it goes fine.. by all accounts they are 'powerful' people and be good to get on with them... our one and only 'virtual' encounter was anything but.. hey ho.. such is fostering...

The meeting went extremely well and we did actually get far more information today than we have from any of the social workers dealing with our placement. It was apparent from the start that the guardian really did have LO's best interests at the top of their list (unfortunately unlike the SW's we've been dealing with.) I have to say a little of my faith in 'the system' has been restored today after meeting someone who really does care what happens to these children.

I got the impression from the references to the judge and the regular meetings they have that the guardians are indeed powerful people and I'm delighted to say we did get on very well the one we saw today. I was concerned that we hadn't met before now but the guardian had been to contact to observe several times and was extremely knowledgeable about all aspects of the case.
