Hi everyone.

My hubby and I and 11 year old daughter are about to restart the process of fostering again. We have approached the LA who let us down somewhat last time and an IFA, Families For Children.
They will be coming around in a couple of days and I want to prepare our questions.
Do you have any suggestions on what questions we should ask?

Thanks in advance.

Given the surplus of carers in my LA at the moment I'd ask the agency how many children they've been required to place in the last few months, particularly for the age group you're interested in. Yes they might try and tempt you with better money and support but that means nothing if there's no child for you to care for.

Good luck!

Ask we're are the contacts held in YOUR home or a contact centre

Hi and thanks for your responses. We asked about where contact is held, from what areas do the children come from, what kind of support is there, training, what could we be approved for, could we speak to carers they have in our locality, how often they get placements. It was Families for Children. They were very honest and open and it so happens that the sw who came round used to work for the LA we were considering. After speaking to her and a couple of their carers in our area, hubby and I have decided we will go with the private agency.
