Here they call it a LAC review which is a "looked after child" review. Could it be a typo???

hi
thanks i spoke to my sw this morning, apparently its descrimination now to call a child a looked after child so they have changed to 'child looked after'
personally i cant see any difference but there you go!

Oh right! I wonder what scale the person was on who came up with that or was it a committee?! No wonder they had to cut down on the funding for contact transport.......

Bet that took a huge brainstorming session to be really imaginative and think that one up!! Un bloody believable!!

You could ALMOST laugh if it wasn't for real..

Agree Buster - how bloody ridiculous. It's like we used to be able to say ethnic minority now we have to say minority ethnic. People with one black parent used to be called "half caste" which wasn't very nice, then it changed to mixed race, then mixed parentage, now it has to be dual heritage. A lot of older people still think it's ok to say "coloured" people as they think this is polite but we have to tell them to say "black people" - But the LAC and CLA is barmy - I guess someone somewhere (with nothing else to do) thought that Looked aftered child designated the child's identity, whereas Child Looked after means he/she is a child first, but what a load of old tosh.

Good job I don't work in SSDs any more - my blood pressure would be raised!
