My LO has had supervised contact with her family for the last few months- we have just gone to unsupervised and apparently she was hysterical when leaving to come home? But was fine when she got home and now says she is fine? Does anyone have any ideas? She is 8.

Hi our LO reacts exacally the same ,crying and hysteria all the way home from contact ,by the time we,ve driven the 30 miles home shes fine again.
Supervised Contact is every 2 months so understandably Lo knows she,ll not see her family untill the next time .
Do you notice a change in your Lo before contact? ,I have noticed she gets quite standoffish from me for a few days before ,then back to herself straight after ,(well as soon as the cryings stopped bless her ).
She is 10

yes we had the same to be honest it only changed when the parents started having a parenting assessment as they were trying very hard not to let lo get like that for fear it would look bad on them.

in some sad way i do think the parents like it a little it makes them feel the child misses them, also what happens during contact plays a big part my lo was getting spoiled when in contact bags and bags of sweets family bags of chocolate, fizzy drinks, gifts galore baring in mind she was 3 when this was going on Hmm

Found route of problem- new SW and LO thought she was going to be removed again. Went to GP for CAHMs referral tonight. Poor thing- she lost touch with what was going on, had a nasty flashback and freaked.

When you say unsupervised who is present during the contact? Who reported to you she was hysterical?

The council sends workers to collect her after contact and I get texts off her mother
