Can you request a certain sex?

This is very premature, me and DD are returning from Belgium to England next year and DH in 2012. I was wondering about fostering, we have a largish house and could offer a home to one, or possibly two children. Is it possible to state a preference of sex?
I appreciate this is almost a year away, but couldn't find an answer anywhere.

Yes you can, although of course the more stipulations you have on who you would foster makes it harder to get placements, and some LA's may not take you on due to this - they ideally want carers with the greatest flexibility.
