Our social worker was lovely, and made us feel quite at ease (although it didn't stop me feeling really nervous!)

Good luck.. don't worry.. they're not looking for 'saints'.. just people who are honest and caring - ours said those with a bit of hardship sometimes the better and boy did we have a story to tell.

Also, with about 2 minutes to go, our 1st visit was cancelled - I was gutted, but then only later realised that it must have been something urgent and that there are other more important things than coming to see us at times.

There are no trick questions, but it is very indepth and thought provoking.. enjoy the process... don't rush it... and be honest

Hi,

Not feeling so positive about LA now. They were supposed to semd me paperwork detailing expectations of Level 3 carers on Monday. Still don't have it. it took them 2 and half weeks to send the initial info pack.....not feeling very confident inn their systems and communication.

Had an invite to NFA open night tonight.........my head is all over the place.

Going to postpone the SW who was coming in light of the fact I don't have any of the info I was supposed to have and go and check out NFA and then see from there.............do you think that's wrong.

TBH I'm thinking if they can't even send out some basic info then what chance do i have of getting any decent support...Grrrr. I was so psyched up too.

Think I'll bite the bullet and go with my original choice which was Barnardos. So far they are the only agency I haven't heard anything negative about.

Well the paperwork arrived. I can't be a level 3 carer. You can't have a child under 16 in the house if you are level 3!!!! What was I suposed to do with Luuk, have him taken into care? Thet know my background and circumstances......lucky escape methinks.

On a positive note though I was told today about another agency and was given soe very positive info re them. Was a bit worried age would be an issue with Luuk being 5 ( 6 once we're through the process) but they have children from age 1........and their conditions see to be very good. Waiting on SW to ring me back now. Here's hoping this is the 1.

Hey ho have managed to ove forward. HAv spoken to several agencies and the LA again. Spoke to Barnardos yesterday but our big stumbling block is we only want to look after under 5's until Luuk is a wee bit older. Well the lovely lady from Barnardos who wanted to check with her manager yesterday just rang back and Barnardos definitely want to progress with us .

Hopefully this will be a good beginning.
