That's fantastic news congratulations. How long did the process take you. Are you with LA or ifa?

We first made contact November 2009 - attended the skills to foster course in March/April 2010 - so I think it is really good time wise.

We decided to go with the LA - mainly because we'd heard that although you probably get better support via an IFA, traditionally they have the more difficult to place children (although I know thats not necessarily the case now). Also, as the LA is responsible for the children who come into care, it seemed to make sense to start with them. We did research and our LA has some 'outstanding' marks from OFSTED.

Our social worker has actually said that due to financial cuts, they have been told to move as many children as they can, that are currently placed via IFA's back 'in house' - all because of money!!!

We've been approved for 2 children, initially with an age range 0-6, although once we are more confident with ourselves and the system, we'll increase the ages to 0-18.

Strange position we're in now... really looking forward to the phone ringing, but on the other hand, it means a child has been taken away from its family... still..
