Right, I've got until Tuesday to complete my CWDC. At the moment I am very close to tears. I know I'm making it much harder than it needs to be, but I'm really struggling. I've got loads of experience done my NVQ but can't seem to get it all on paper.

Does anybody have any tips pleeeeeease.

If you have done your nvq level 3 you should nor have to fill in all of the cwdc, parts of nvq can be used as evidence. check this out with your ssw before you do more work than you need.

dolphin13 · 15/08/2010 17:53

Yes I was told that but I'm just being really thick and can't seem to get it together. I've been waffling on with reams of info when I'm sure one line would do.

Doesn't help that I can't find my NVQ file anywhere.

we were given a list of which standards and which points to do, ie standard 1 sec 3 or something like that, can't remember exactly and mine is in for assessing so can't check.

they don't really need to see your nvq file. also you have till april 2011 so don't let them rush you.

And they have to support you, not just leave you to it, if you don't do it they 'fail' so it's in their interest to give you help with it.

And one line will do, it is really basic, and you can add to it later if one line is not enough.

And our authority put on courses to help people, we did ours there otherwise it still wouldn't be done Blush

dolphin13 · 15/08/2010 19:32

Yes we had courses to but they always ended up being a big gossip fest so nothing really got done.

I need to have it done by Tuesday as I've got a panel date for my next skills level and having it completed is part of the required criteria.

I will get it completed tonight I've just got to calm down and stop thinking it needs to be more complicated than it is.

well good luck, and good luck for the panal.

Hey everyone, I'm new to this but glad i've discovered it. I'm new to fostering and like most, trying to get my head around the CWDC. It would be helpful for any tips or examples anyone is happy to assist with please. I have to complete standard 1 within a fortnight and would welcome someones help with it. Social Worker was not the best at explaining it and it's pretty much D.I.Y strategy. Any helpers out there, when i've completed mine i'm happy to offer the same support to a new comer. Please feel free to email me on [email protected] (Thanks everyone)

Hiya.

Have you also been given tsd guidance pack that accompanies the workbook? If you follow that pretty much to the letter you won't go far wrong.

Also, keep the answers short otherwise it's easy to get tangled up in over complicated answers. Use bullet points, refer to training you've attended, books you've read and relevant legislation, policies and procedures.

snowflakes45 · 18/08/2014 19:37

Thank you Gillian 1980 for your reply and advice. For further clarity, could you explain what the tsd guidance pack is? I only have the actual CWDC folder nothing else to accompany it with.

Gillian1980 · 19/08/2014 00:27

The cwdc was replaced by the tsd. Do you have the up to date tsd workbook? That's what we have to use now and I had thought everyone had switched, but perhaps not.

The link below (on phone so can't make it a hyperlink, sorry) is where the guidance sheets and support pack are available in PDF.

Each box to complete in the workbook has a piece of corresponding guidance. If you just follow it really closely and use your own examples & evidence you'll be fine.

If you're using the old cwdc book then it's really very similar so the guidance should still be pretty helpful at suggesting what to include.
