aaargh, please tell me something positive about the place to lift my mood. We are off in 8 weeks!

In the Dales
Near York
Not too far to scotland for lovely holidays
Haven't been but have friends who loved it.
Know someone at Dishforth and they love the area for the family stuff there is to do at weekends.

Dont forget Darlington is only 20 mins away and it is lovely. I actually live in Darlington and OH works in Catterick and we absolutely love it here.

are you really Saltire?? Where (roughly)? My parents used to have a caravan near richmond

Richmond is lovely - ohh richmond castle.

The Akebar (restaurant) in Leyburn

Bedale, Leyburn and Northallerton all lovely market towns.

Darlington good for shopping and nights out.

Tesco Extra in the Garrison

New quarters very good, old quarters well refurbished (and bigger)

Highest pub in the UK close by (but I cant bloody well remember its name - only that we got snowed into it for 2 days - and it was great!!)

V Good primary school and an excellent SN school V nearby (Catterick village)

Easy to get to lots of other places

Scots Corner and Catterick Market

Oh, and Catterick Races

THe Dales are fantastic.
Thai restaurant in Richmond is fab.
Catterick market sells EVERYTHING.
Picnics by the river in Richmond.
Icecreams at Brymores near Masham.
Swimming in the rivers at Masham and Richmond.
Surrounded by beautiful market towns.
York / Leeds close by for big shops, but tbh Darlington is perfectly adequate.
