I'm not familiar with protocols for contacting people on FB, but if you are a mamber of the family, or know Lisa (creator of the page), then it might be worth adding a link on that page to a news item such as this report from the BBC to give background for those (like me) who are unfamiliar with the case.
It may well have had a lot of TV or newspaper coverage but there must surely be other people who for one reason or another (eg working away) might not have been aware. Also, as it was in the run-up to the election so many had their thoughts (and media coverage) on other matters.
